Look for moving charges that are conditional, unclear, or missing.
“Hidden fee” can mean several different things: an omitted service, a disclosed condition without a rate, a scope change, or a charge buried elsewhere in the paperwork. Separate those cases before you sign.

- Valuation choices, deductibles, deposits, and cancellation terms.
Ask for calculable answers
Instead of asking “Are there any extra fees?”, ask: “Which listed conditions could apply to my move, what triggers each one, and what rate or amount will be used?” Keep the answer with the written estimate. Interstate federal rules and local state rules are not identical.
